Learning from Loss - Families and Carers Survey

Edinburgh Carers Council is part of a Scottish Government ministerial review of the arrangements currently in place for investigating the deaths of people being treated for mental illness, personality disorder or learning disability.

The review wants to hear from family carers who have experience of these investigations. This includes where people have died by suicide. If you would like to contribute to the review and help to influence the way investigations are carried out Edinburgh Carers Council can support you to do this.

There are a number of ways to take part in the review. There is an online survey (https://consult.gov.scot/mental-health-law/investigation-of-deaths-survey-for-families-carers) where you can give your views. The review is also accepting written submissions from carers and Edinburgh Carers Council can assist you with your submission. There will also be opportunities to meet with members of the review team.

Your information will be treated confidentially. You do not need to give your name or the name of your friend or relative if you do not want to.

The information you provide will be used by Scottish Government to understand more about how deaths are investigated and make recommendations to improve this process.
