Many thanks to everyone who managed to come along to our Annual General Meeting on Friday, 22 November 2019!

It was lovely to see everyone and to have such a great turnout. The AGM was held between 11am and 2pm at The Mews (35 Young Street, North Lane, Edinburgh).

We started off the morning with our guest speaker Gordon Dodds, who is the Planning and Commissioning Officer of Mental Health from the Edinburgh Health & Social Care Partnership. Gordon updated us on the progress of Thrive, the Mental Health & Wellbeing Strategy for Edinburgh.

The meeting room we usually book for the Forum will be unavailable from November through December. Many apologies for this!

Carers Meeting - 30 October

There is a meeting for carers of people with learning disability and autism on Wednesday 30th October.

This is because the review of learning disability and autism in the Mental Health Act is in its final stage, and the review has put forward ideas for significant changes to mental health law in Scotland.

As part of this final stage, the review team are keen to meet with carers to seek their feedback and the ideas they have put forward.

Independent Review of Learning Disability/Autism in Mental Health Act

The Independent Review of Learning Disability and Autism in the Mental Health Act has now entered stage 3, its final stage.

Stage 3 is a consultation about the changes that are thought to be needed in the law.

The consultation is now open and runs until Friday, 1st November 2019.

Carers Forum - 5th September

Our next Carers Forum will take place on Thursday, 5th September from 11am-2pm at Great Michael House (14 Links Place, EH6 7EZ).

We will be welcoming two guest speakers:

- Kathleen Taylor, Engagement & Participation Officer (Carer) from the Mental Welfare Commission for Scotland, who will speak to us about her role and the work they do.
