CARED Scotland

CARED is an online resource for carers of people with Eating Disorder produced by CAMHS Edinburgh, BEAT, carers and those with Eating Disorders. CARED won the Self-Management Resource Award at the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland event last week - Leah MacGilp from our Management Committee was involved in producing the resource, along with other carers!

Redhall Walled Gardens Winter Open Day 2018

Redhall Walled Gardens are hosting their annual community winter open day on Saturday 8th December ❄️

AGM - 30th November

We will be holding our 2018 Annual General Meeting on Friday, November 30th from 11am-1:30pm.

The venue will be The Mews (35 Young Street, North Lane, EH2 4JD).

Come along to hear about our our work from the past year! Refreshments and cake will be available.

We will also have a guest speaker opening for us at 11am, MSP Ben MacPherson, who was elected as MSP for Edinburgh Northern and Leith in May 2016. Following Ben's speech will be Edinburgh Carers Council's AGM business meeting.

University of Stirling Carer Survey

The University of Stirling has launched a survey to find out about what carers look for in replacement care and the types of support they value.

If you look after someone over the age of 55 (no matter how big or small the caring role), please consider taking this survey which takes approximately 10 minutes. The deadline is 1st October 2018.

AdvoCard's Community Collective Advocacy is carrying out peer research for the experiences of physical health care & side effects of psychiatric / mental health medication. This is to gather views to improve the care people receive for their physical health issues and to address the side effects of medication.

" People often tell us about two important issues: experiences of physical health care when you have a mental health diagnosis or lived experience of mental health issues; and side effects of psychiatric medication

Seeking a Treasurer

Edinburgh Carers Council has been providing support and advocacy to carers for twenty years. It has a focus on mental health but also works with carers of people with dementia, learning difficulties and some physical conditions. It is seeking a Treasurer to assist the Management Committee and welcomes applications from those with lived experience as a family carer or those with an interest in carer and mental health issues.

Next Carers Forum - Save the Date

We will be hosting our next Carers Forum on September 20th 2018 from 11am-2pm.

This will be our first Forum since our office move and because of this it will be held at a new venue: Volunteer Edinburgh (222 Leith Walk EH6 5EQ).
