Edinburgh Crisis Centre Update

Message from the Edinburgh Crisis Centre:

Due to essential maintenance being carried out ,the Edinburgh Crisis Centre will not be able to provide 1-1 appointments from 8am-7pm on Wednesday the 19th December nor overnight stays from 8am on Wednesday the 19th December to 12pm on Thursday the 20th December.

Mental Welfare Commission Seeking New Board Member

New board member with experience as an unpaid carer sought for the Mental Welfare Commission

Paul Dumbleton, Mental Welfare Commission Board member, will leave his role in March after eight years. Paul has been the Commission’s Board member with experience as a family carer since the Board was established in 2011.

Last reminder! Survey: Learning Disability/Autism & Mental Health Act

Last reminder! This is the last chance to tell the Mental Welfare Commission about your experiences of learning disability or autism and the Mental Health Act.

Their survey ends this Friday, 30th November.

Please complete a survey so that this review can reflect your experiences.

EVOC Drop-in for Carers Rights Day

EVOC will be marking Carers Rights Day on Friday 30th November from 11am – 3.30pm by hosting a drop-in wellbeing event for paid and unpaid carers across Edinburgh. This coincides with Edinburgh Carers Council's AGM, though EVOC's event will be longer so anyone who is interested, please consider dropping by!

There will be a small spa space, a chance to try Reiki and yoga, and a free lucky dip with prizes donated by businesses across Edinburgh.

This forum meeting will be an opportunity to have some FUN. It will be fun-focused with the focus on FUN!

Survey: Learning Disability/Autism in Mental Health Act

Please consider taking part in this survey for an independent review which aims to gather evidence on how people with learning disability & autism experience the Mental Health Act.

The deadline is Friday 30th November.

Staff and carers can complete the online survey at www.irmha.scot

Please contact Simon or Catherine (0131 313 8744) from the review team if you would like to meet with them, for those who care for someone who cannot take part themselves.

CARED Scotland

CARED is an online resource for carers of people with Eating Disorder produced by CAMHS Edinburgh, BEAT, carers and those with Eating Disorders. CARED won the Self-Management Resource Award at the Health and Social Care Alliance Scotland event last week - Leah MacGilp from our Management Committee was involved in producing the resource, along with other carers!

Redhall Walled Gardens Winter Open Day 2018

Redhall Walled Gardens are hosting their annual community winter open day on Saturday 8th December ❄️

AGM - 30th November

We will be holding our 2018 Annual General Meeting on Friday, November 30th from 11am-1:30pm.

The venue will be The Mews (35 Young Street, North Lane, EH2 4JD).

Come along to hear about our our work from the past year! Refreshments and cake will be available.

We will also have a guest speaker opening for us at 11am, MSP Ben MacPherson, who was elected as MSP for Edinburgh Northern and Leith in May 2016. Following Ben's speech will be Edinburgh Carers Council's AGM business meeting.
